Frog Control to Major Slaad

This time the party cleared the second floor of the Tomb, gained some supernatural pals/servants, and faced a particularly tough foe before dealing with a horrifying boar head and irritating golden skull.

I. The Pentegram and the Slaad

The session began with the party about to enter a chamber with a pentegram on the floor surrounding a sarcophagus. Attentive members of the group heard something stalking around within the pentegram, and called out. From there, a dialogue began with a being calling itself Arcorax (eventually given the humiliating nickname Archie to further distinguish it from the Acerak the Lich). Arcorax implored the party to release it from the binding pentegram it was trapped in, and wanted to leave, go on a rampage, and destroy Withers (the already deceased). The group chatted with this being for a while before asking it what it was. It told them it was a Slaad, and the party realized that Maxwell was carrying a control stone for Slaad. After some cruel experiments, the party confirmed that with the help of the the stone, the being can be controlled.

The group then opened the sarcophagus, discovered an egg-like pearl of power and suffered a dancing curse that was quite harmful until dispelled.

II. The Chariot Room

From there, the party backtracked to the main stairwell, and examined the one door they had not yet visited. The door was built in such a way that three zombies had their heads sticking through it. Stugg called upon the power of his god and destroyed them before the group proceeded to push the heavy door open, revealing a strange chamber with statues, an inscription, a chariot, a big shield and a sarcophagus. The inscription included a suggestion to bow before no-one, so the group had Archie enter the room and bow in front of the one faceless statue.

Additionally in this tomb, a skeleton was found with a key in it's skull. Monty dispatched it, taking the 2nd such key that the group has found.

Following that supplication, Archie was ordered to open the sarcophagus, and did so without any trouble . The group then entered the chamber, and Fifi examined the contents of the sarcophagus, finding remains and an amulet in the shape of a cartoon heart. She examined this amulet, and in doing so, gained a powerful spiritual ally (and some personality changes) in the form of Papazotl, the Eblis God who now resides in her. Other treasures were found here. To the best of my knowledge, players wrote them down.

III. The Big Sacks of Hit Points Covered in Armor

Heading down to the 3rd level of the Tomb, the party found a number of passages, and opted for the one headed west towards a number of possibilities. The party's progress was arrested by 2 hulking, roughly human bodies with jagged armor roughly bolted into their moldering flesh. These 2 beings were connected by a chain, and aggressively defended a section of the corridor. They gave no ground, and were resistant to many forms of damage. Eventually, magical weapons and fire proved sufficient, but not before significant injuries to the party (including Azaka!). Following this engagement, the group split.

IV. The Tapestry Room

Many went into a room filled with tapestry depicting a feast. The first layer of tapestry showed feasting nobles. The second implied gluttony, open carnal acts and growing horror. The third depicted cannibalism and other ugliness. Passing the third was challenging due to an aura of supernatural fear. Only a couple people made it past that tapestry. Behind it was a boar's head on the wall, and gore everywhere. The boar attempted to ensorcell members of the party, and Azaka fell for the spell.

She proceeded to calmly walk up and place her head in the mouth of the boar, which chomped down, harming her before the boar's head was destroyed by the party. From there, some treasure was found.

V. The Skull Room

The other part of the party sought a secret door on the south wall of the corridor, and managed to find one. They then went down a set of stairs before encountering a golden skull sitting on a pedastal. Chimis touched the skull, awakening Waka, the golden skull. This being has persisted now in following Chimis around, insulting him, and asking to be fed gems. (he has been given one gem so far). Waka was banished with magic, but returned not long after.

Rewards - assorted treasures(primarily gems - 1 remaining unidentified item), assistance from Archie, XP sufficient to be 1/2 of the way to 9th level.
