An Intentional Appointment with Withers (2)?

Interesting session with some questionable hydrology, a spooky water monster with a voice I may forget how to do, the loss of a dad-bod-thirst-trap, and a whole new world, filled with alternate reality fantasy maintenance engineers/wizards (AKA Withers!).

TLDR: Explored an underground river, fought a treasure chest, followed a waterfall to an underground lake, met a creepy water monster very into a death god, got some treasure, messed with a weird devil face statue, learned of an alternate reality tomb copy, experienced a trap chamber that nearly drowned the party in wine, and did manage to kill Percy and nearly kill Khamyllionaire, befriended bizarro Withers, and found a Pentagram chamber. PCs will level up.

We had:
1. Ingrid as Momo and Maxwell
2. Stephanie as Khamyllionaire and Fifi
3. Travis as Chimis
4. Scott as Stugg and Azaka
5. Amy as Monty
and Percy the mercenary

The session began with the party searching for secret doors in a previously explored tomb, and finding a set of stairs leading to an underground river. They followed that river a short distance and found a waterfall and a treasure chest. That treasure chest proved to actually be a monster, and after dispatching it, Monty took the group's broom of flying down to the bottom of the waterfall, finding a vast underground lake and massive stony gears.

Chimis explored the lake further, gathering some intel from cave fish before swimming around and encountering a strange creature in the water, nearly the size of a whale. The creature was an enthusiastic worshipper of what it called "the death God," and wanted to encourage Chimis to bring his friends down to it's sanctum at the bottom of the lake. Chimis suggested he would bring the party down to the creature and got away as quickly as possible.

From there, the group explored more upstairs, following an underground river to a strange chained up treasure chest. Momo and Khamyllionaire managed to open it, discovering gold, a gold tankard and a scroll of remove curse.

Having thoroughly explored the first floor of the tomb, the party descended to the 2nd, coming out to a southern passage where they discovered a demon face in the floor. Those approaching the face heard wailing and moaning, and discovered the darkness in it's mouth would blot out light in a way that would appear unnatural. The party probed the mouth somewhat, but did not take any further risks there, though jokes were made about sending Percy the mercenary down there.

Moving on from that possible deathtrap, the group went down another corridor on the 2nd floor, which featured a strange rising/eventually looping passage, and a dead goat headed wizard. Chimis stayed behind as the rest of the group followed this arching passage, eventually finding themselves in a world without Chimis. After some experimentation, the party determined that following this gravity defying passage would lead to an alternate version of the tomb, in which previously defeated enemies were still afoot.

After exploring that alternate reality for a short time, the party explored a tomb chamber. In that chamber, they found a gilded coffin in the sunlight, and strange gaping gargoyle mouths. Once the coffin was opened and exposed to the light, things went south quickly. A massive stone block began descending from the ceiling in the corridor, set to block the group's escape. The party rushed to escape, making attempts to roll under the stone block and out. Multiple characters tripped or got caught up together, and facing imminent death, Fifi used the immovable rod to briefly delay the stone block.

The rod however only has a capacity of 8,000 pounds. Given that the stone was at least a 10 foot cube, I made a call that it would weigh greater than that amount (http://www.delawarequarries.com/landscape/boulders/boulderwt.html) . Depending on the type of stone, I could have been wrong or right. Either way, due to that call, I allowed everyone a second shot at avoiding being crushed. Percy and Khamyllionaire failed. Khamyllionaire's roguish talents for avoiding harm allowed her to escape (with some injuries), but Percy was not so lucky.

Wine poured out of the gap in the chamber, and after some time, the stone rose on it's own. The party picked gold pieces out of what was left of Percy before regrouping, grabbing Wither's head, bringing it to the alternate reality, using it to convince Wither's that something was up, showing him their reality, and befriending him before sending him back to the alternate reality. There they learned that alternate Withers cannot function in normal reality.

Acting on intel from Withers(2) the group found another secret passage and made their way to a spooky pentagram chamber - leading to the cliffhanger for this month's session.

All player characters will level up. I'll make sure to make a quick audit of sheets at that time as well.
